This is the kind of tool they put at the checkout stand as an impulse buy. I’m not sure there’s ever been a useful tool at the checkout stand. It’s meant for people who think there’s a shortcut. There are very few shortcuts.

To all you guys that say taping is bad. Bull!!! Taping leaves a perfectly straight edge that when dirty (all bathroom sealants eventually are NOT cleanable) the sealant looks like trim and can be used a little longer before redone. Without taping, whatever you use to spread the sealant will leave an uneven edge that looks perfect when new but later on shows even the thinnest layer of sealant edge variation when dirty. When removing the tape pull the tape lengthwise with the sealant and it should not lift the sealant up. Of course you want to leave the sealant no thicker than the thickness of the tape while applying the sealant. I wish that all the idiots who just gobbed silicone sealant on camper outside corners would use tape as it is extremely dirty in the weather and leaves a horendous ugly job once aged a little. Try and clean that mess up!!! It takes longer to tape but is worth it. Period.

Using tape? Waste of time, you dont need to if you know what your doing

Absolutely a waste of money if you're using tape you might as well just use your finger and you will definitely need to spray it with a washing up liquid and water solution after pulling the tape off

This is a stupid idea using tape will make the edges of the sealant come away quicker and that did not look neat at the end the edges were rough as toast

This looks brilliant but 1) how easy is it to clean and 2) you should never apply sealant over masking tape. When you remove the tape you break the seal on the edge and water will get behind it.
